Some of our photographs

Some of these pictures show scenes in and around our little hamlet, and others include photographs in the nearby town of Dumfries. We have been asked to show our bedroom accommodation, so we have included 2 pictures below.

"The Thames flows proudly to the sea, where royal cities stately stand; but sweeter flows the Nith to me, where Comyns ance had high command" Robert Burns. The River Nith, Dumfries, 5 miles from our home

The Belted Galloway Cattle ("Belties") are a hardy breed that can withstand the harsh winters of Scotland. These animals are unique to this part of Scotland.

The bedrooms are cosy with en suite facilities, TV, tea/coffee tray and electric blankets for winter

Remember to bring your alarm clock as the comfortable beds may cause you to oversleep and miss your breakfast!

Barnacle geese on a neighbouring farm during winter

The Globe Inn where Robert burns would order more than a pint from the lovely barmaids. It is still a favourite watering hole in Dumfries.

The cycle Route 7, that passes our home, crosses the River Nith at this suspension bridge in Dumfries

Across the River Nith rises the Criffel (top) and a good view of the Isle of Man as well as the Cumbrian hills of the Lakedstrict can be clearly seen from its summit on a fine day. A perfect place for bird watching (above)

The Caerlaverock churchyard near to Bankend contains the remains of Old Mortality that inspired the writing of Sir Walter Scott's novel of the same name
